Better Brand Positioning Through Online Advertising Banners

Written by Spencer Thornock Wednesday, 28 January 2009 10:00

Aside from television, the world wide web is perhaps the most potent means of advertising these days. Advertisements on the net covers not only those entities conducting transactions online but even those offline businesses. Offline businesses are now extending their services to the net to reach out to a larger scope of their target market and at the same time provide convenient customer services. Not only do they need the internet for their services but also they need it as a medium to advertise. Not to mention that marketing on the net is less expensive than on television. With this influx of web sites and internet users, promoting on the web also increased in demand.

Further, more online advertising methods are cropping up to cater to the demands of advertisers as well as to cope with the discriminating preferences of internet users. Webmasters and internet techies continuously devise new approaches in promoting on the net. They had to do this since there are millions of products, services, and companies that are banking on the internet as their advertising medium. Such complexities must be dealt with. Just as fast as technology develops, so does advertisements on the net. So, don't be surprised every time you see new ads popping in your computer screens whenever you surf the net.

Online advertising banners are one of the more common methods of advertising online. These are very noticeable ads in web pages because of its size and perhaps its location on the web page, too. Online advertising banners are specifically designed to be placed in areas of a web page that are easily noticed by internet users. Banners are especially effective when you are trying to establish your brand image on the net. To have effective online advertising banners, you have to pay particular attention on how your banner would appear. The quality of your banner would most likely reflect your brand's image over the internet.

That is why, when you intend to do banner advertisements, you need to be quite meticulous with the details of your banners. Pay attention to the colors, language, and graphics to be used. It must blend with the product or service that you are promoting. With the visibility of your online advertising banners, you will be able to further emphasize your brand to many internet users. The number of banners you place over the internet is also important since if you have more ads displayed in various web sites, then you can find more potential customers. Visible internet banners can also greatly influence more potential customers especially when your product or service is quite unique and has few competitors.

You can have your own following in this case. So, whenever a customer needs a particular product, your brand must first come to mind. Even in tight competition, online advertising banners can help you better position your brand online. With the number of banners that you will be scattering all over the net, you can be way ahead the competition. Visual advertising often has a subliminal effect on the people that see it. It results to better brand retention among your potential customers. Keep your online advertising banners strategically spread on the internet for better visibility.

The Importance of Using Anchor Text

Last Updated on Thursday, 15 January 2009 12:58 Written by Spencer Thornock Thursday, 15 January 2009 12:32

Anchor Text can be described as a statement or text you click on a webpage, which takes you to another page or website. So it is a link to another site or page. Anchor text is considered very important by all the major search engines. It gives your visitors useful information about the content of the page you’re linking to and so it helps your website to achieve higher ranks in all search engines.

It is advisable to use keywords in the anchor text. The main advantage of using this is that if many people link to a web page using a set of keywords as anchor text, that page will rank very highly for those keywords. Thus it increases the rank of your page as it helps more people to link to you using those keywords as anchor text. The position of the link is also very important. For more benefit, links should usually be placed at the top left or the bottom right of the web page.

An important point to understand is how to do the Anchor Text Optimisation. This helps in showing the relevancy of your web pages to key search engines to help in ranking for desired keywords. There are two ways of doing it, first is doing it internally and second is doing it externally.

The internal anchor text optimization means optimization within a website i.e., the web pages within a website are linked from one page to another using the related keywords as anchor texts. Now if a web page has a hyperlink to another web page then instead of using generic words as the link text (anchor text). specific and related keywords can be used.

The external text optimization means optimizing anchor text in the inbound links that a site gets. In this kind of text optimization, inbound links from websites, directories, forums and blogs are made using necessary keywords as anchor texts.

The most important element in an anchor text is the keyword.

Some of the main reasons why is it important to use anchor text are:

• When search engine spiders index a site, they look for anchor text.

• Since the anchor text is highlighted, it makes it easier for the visitor to see the phrases to click and thus increases the readability of the site.

• It enables the reader to go deeper into the site and so is a big help in increasing the interactivity of the site.

• The use of relevant keywords in the anchor text makes it easier to establish links.

• It helps the reader to focus to a specific topic.

Best Practices for Using Anchor Text

• External links:  Relevant anchor text should be used by links coming from other URLs. You can mix and match the keyword phrases targeted through anchor links to associate keyword phrases with specific internal pages.

• Correct and precise anchor text phrasing. You have to use precise words to describe the contents of the site. No need to add,  ‘click here’  as it is not required and is nondescript. The text should just be a short descriptive phrase. It should be enough to explain to the reader exactly what he is clicking on.

• Navigation maps: A great place to put keyword-enriched anchor text is at the bottom of each page of the site. This is also called the navigation map. These links should be correctly phrased, as site visitors and search engine spiders will definitely use these.

• Use links wherever required. Links should not be restricted to just the top and bottom but they should be found throughout the entire page wherever required.

• Broad anchor text phrasing:  you must use a broad topic for an anchor text link when you link the page to covers a broad topic. For example the anchor text  ’online jobs’  should be used in the website that links to a page with information about various jobs available online.

In conclusion, in an endeavour to promote a site and ultimately make money online, we can see that Anchor text is very important. Firstly because it tells the search engines what the page is all about, and secondly as it also improves the ranking of the site in search engines and therefore helps the visitor interact properly in the site.

How to Use Autoresponder Marketing For Maximum Profits

Last Updated on Thursday, 15 January 2009 12:58 Written by Spencer Thornock Thursday, 15 January 2009 11:54

Businesses like to use autoresponders to communicate with people who email them. This lets the initiator know two things: “we appreciate your business” and “we will be in touch with you within X amount of days”. These kinds of emails are sent instantly to anyone who sends an email to a business/website address. Some people will use autoresponders when they go on vacation. Most autoresponders are used by website owners. Have you ever gotten an autoresponder? The chances of you getting an autoresponder when you are communicating with a company are great.

Uses for AutoResponder Marketing

Sometimes it’s annoying getting an auto response email when you take the time to write/email the business or website. A response like this makes the whole communication process impersonal.

Autoresponders cannot be designed to address any specific issue that gives it a unique trait. However, email forms can be placed on a webmaster’s website in such a way that different responses will be sent according to the issue. When a webmaster utilizes this way of response, the marketing program can be geared towards the person’s issue and doesn’t seem so uncongenial.

Is it hard to set up? Not at all. Instead of using a basic email address where persons need to contact the website operators, webmasters, instead, can set up a short contact form. The form should have spaces set aside for the person’s name, age and email address.

To narrow down the person’s issue, forms will need a drop down box with a list of possible problems or suggestions to why that person needs to speak with the website owner. What kinds of things should be listed? What kinds of problems you should have listed in this drop down box will depend on the sort of business you have. If they want to send in the email, it should be compulsory that they pick a reason for communication. What does this mean? It means they cannot submit the form without a reason being chosen. The autoresponder program will then send the appropriate marketer response to the person’s email. There should be a place set aside for the person to air out their grievances or concerns. Make sure there are enough characters on the form because people will get upset when they cannot type out their problem entirely.

The autoresponder email marketing program will need at least one reply per drop down item. The responses they get should fit what their issue is about. For example, if a person has a problem with your account, your autoresponder email should say something to the effect of, “Thank you for your email. Please give us 24 hours to check on the status of your account and to report back to you.” If you have any questions or want a faster response, you can contact us by phone.”
